Sony Bravia Setup

Note: A Google account is required to complete this setup. If you do not have one please complete the Google account registration process before starting.

Operating Modes

There are 3 operating modes in the Bravia Pro Display

Normal Mode: unrestricted access to apps and the display system settings.

Pro Settings Mode: unrestricted access to apps and Pro Mode settings. This is where Pro mode is configured

Pro Mode: no access to settings and restricted access to apps. The app operates in this mode.

Note: DO NOT launch Pro Mode until the configuration of Pro Setting Mode outlined below is complete

Initial Setup

The first time the display is turned on or after a factory reset you will be presented with the initial setup screen. Follow the on screen prompts and select as follows:

Country: United Kingdom

Language: English

Set up your TV with an Android phone or tablet: Skip

Select your WIFI network (if not connected via ethernet) and enter password

After choosing your network an Enter password... screen will appear. Press the ENTER button on the remote control while the text field is highlighted to activate the on-screen keyboard. Then input the password for the network and press NEXT/ENTER or FINISH to proceed
When the connection is complete, Connected successfully is displayed

Google account sign in: enter your Google account email and password

System settings

After completing the initial set up and agreeing terms you'll be taken to the Normal mode home page

Navigate using the remote to the settings cog icon in top right hand corner and from the list select system

From the system menu select and configure as follows:

Power and energy - power save: OFF idle TV power: OFF

Airplay and HomeKit Setting - Airplay: OFF

About - system software update - automatic software download: OFF

Then manually check if there are any available updates by selecting check for a system software update - if there is an update available follow the prompts to install

Download and install app

Open the Google Play Store - press the HOME button on the remote - select the Apps icon and then the Google Play Store

In the Google Play Store screen select the search icon

Starting a searching in the Google Play Store

On the Google Play Store search screen use the on-screen keyboard (if the keyboard is not displayed press ENTER on the remote when the cursor is in the input field) to enter platopus

The Platopus Display app should appear automatically under search results - select and install

Activating app

The first time the app is opened on a display the display not activated message will appear - select ACTIVATE

The QR code page will now load

Open the camera on a phone/ tablet and point at the QR code - a notification to open platopusretail.com will appear at the top of the screen

Select the notification - if you are not already logged into your Platopus Retail account on this device you will be prompted to do so.

After logging into your account the display activated page will load - edit the display name field as required and in the display mode section ensure the registered screen radial button is checked. To complete activation press 'update' a the bottom of page

The newly activated display will now be listed in the No Location section. To allocated the display to a location select the view button

IP Remote Control

Press the 'home' button on the remote and from the home screen select 'pro mode tool' and then 'Pro-settings mode'

OK the dialog - display will restart - 'Pro settings in process' on a blue background should now be at top of the screen

From the Pro Settings mode home screen select the settings cog icon (top right of screen)

From the Settings menu select Network and Internet and then Home Network Setup

From the Home network setup menu configure select/ configure as follows

Renderer: ON

IP control - Authentication: check 'pre-shared key' option

Pro Settings Configuration

Press the HOME button on the remote and select the Settings cog icon (top right of screen)

In the settings menu select Pro Settings - Settings

Amend settings as follows:

AC Power on - always on

PC Input - off

Wake-up signal - off

Home key behaviour - home menu

NTP server - set to 'time.apple.com or time.euro.apple.com

Account expiration - normal

Pro mode lock - disable

Charge usb during standby mode - off

Restore picture and sound settings - do not change default setting

WIFI access point - off

Admin password - don't set

USB drive auto run - off

HTML5 platform - off

Initial input source - set 'android app' and select Platopus display app

Initial and maximum volume- reset volume on power on and set volume to zero

Power schedule - off

Periodic restart - set to daily at 9am and check 'force restart while display is on

Display remote controls - all options set to on except bluetooth remote control

Wake-up on touch panel - off

Wide mode key - do not change default setting

Screen mirroring - off

External inputs - all options set to 'not use'

Apps - enable: pro mode tool and Platopus Display disable: Chromecast built in

Inputs - do not change default setting

This completes the set-up process so the display now need to be switched to Pro mode - the default mode for running the app

Press the Home button on the remote and from the home screen layout select Pro mode tool and then Pro mode

OK the dialog - the display will restart

After approximately 30 second of the restart the app will automatically launch

Transferring Pro settings to another display

If you have multiple displays of the same model, software version and region you can export the Pro settings from one display and import them into another using a USB drive.

Exporting Pro settings

Press the Home button on the remote. From the home screen select Pro mode tool and the Pro settings mode

OK the dialog - display will restart and 'Pro settings in process' notification will be displayed on the screen

Insert USB drive into the display

Press the HOME button on the remote and select the Settings cog icon (top right of screen)

In the settings menu select Pro Settings and then Export Pro settings

A notification will confirm when the export is complete. The settings files are now stored on the USB drive

Import Pro settings

Insert the USB drive containing the settings files into the display. A notification will appear confirming a USB with valid data has been detected - select IMPORT to proceed

You can now remove the USB device

Updating the app

Initiate Pro settings mode on the display and open the Google Play Store

Select the account icon at top right of the screen - select manage apps then updates - list of all available updates will be displayed. If a Platopus Display app update is available it will be listed here. To proceed select update all. When all the updates are complete a list of recent updates will appear
